We do not offer try-out classes, as we do not want to distract students and teachers from their daily flow.

A great way to get to know us better, and get a sense of our teaching philosophy, class style, and activities is to join a camp! We offer day camps, various school break camps, and summer camps, which can all be found on our enrollment page.

We will reach out to you by email and/or phone (the one you provided on the waitlist form) when there is an opportunity for a spot in our program, most often in these scenarios:

• If there are immediate openings during the current school year, we will reach out to individual families on the list

• For the next school year, we will reach out to all Incoming TK families on the waitlist in December for a January TK play date and information session for placement in the next school year.

• For the next school year, all grades, we typically reach out to families in February and March for openings in the coming school year.

1. Join the waitlist, ideally before December of the prior year. (Yes, I know, this is just how the timing is in San Carlos!)

2. You will be invited to Incoming TK play dates in January, to give parents an opportunity to tour our site and attend and information session, while your child meets our teachers, enjoys some activities, and plays with other TKers. We do require you to attend a playdate (or schedule a private tour if you are out of town or unable to attend the play date), so we can meet you and your child. This is an important step in our enrollment process for new families.

3. After play dates, we will begin to offer families spots in our incoming TK class. Please keep an eye out in your email or phone.

4. If you are offered a spot, we ask that you please respond promptly within 2 days, so we can be mindful of all other families in the process.

5. If you have not heard back from us after the play date, please feel free to follow-up.

If you signed up on the waitlist after December or have missed the play date invitation and date, we may contact you separately if we still have open spots.

We review students in the order of waitlist sign up, but also consider various factors that help us build a balanced and effective learning environment for each class. Factors we consider include the timing of joining the waitlist, overall class composition (such as age and gender balance), current chinese proficiency based initially on your waitlist input, and whether pick up is needed and what school your child is in (as we need to manage van capacity).

When we reach out, please plan to come tour our site and bring your child for a brief meet and greet. This is an important time for you to get to know our program and for our team to get to know your family. We believe it is mutually beneficial for families to be in alignment with our program’s learning philosophy and expectations.

Our selection process helps ensure the best possible experience for all students and families, and we appreciate your understanding and trust as we work to form strong, harmonious classes.

We currently only pick up from San Carlos schools:

• Lower Elementary Schools: Arundel, Brittan Acres, White Oaks, Heather

• Upper Elementary Schools: Arroyo, Mariposa

• Middle Schools: Central

• San Carlos Charter Learning Center

Yes, we have a beginner Chinese class, that provides new learners with greater English language translation support and uses a different teaching method to help students develop a foundation for listening and speaking.

At this time, if we offer your child a spot in our program and you forfeit it, we will remove you from the waitlist to be fair to other families. You are welcome to sign up on the waitlist again and will be reviewed in the future based on the waitlist order and various other factors (See How do you select from the waitlist).
