The name Live, Love, Learn Chinese reflects the way we believe language and culture should be experienced—not as something memorized for a test, but as something that becomes part of a child’s life and identity.

Live speaks to integration. We want Chinese language and culture to live beyond the classroom and show up in students’ daily experiences, thinking, and interactions. When learning is lived, it becomes meaningful, practical, and enduring.

Love represents joy and connection. We believe that when children associate language learning with curiosity, happiness, and belonging, it stays with them. Through cultural exploration, shared experiences, and human connection, students develop an appreciation for diversity and cultural nuance that shapes how they see the world.

Where we started

It all began with a shared desire within the San Carlos community for a high quality, holistic, and fun Mandarin immersion after school program. We imagined a program where our children joyfully engage in learning Chinese, confidently integrating it into their daily lives while celebrating the richness of Chinese culture in modern times, rather than enduring Chinese learning as an educational obligation.

From grassroots aspirations to tangible reality, Live Love Learn Chinese was brought to life by Sherry Zhang, a passionate teacher, mom, and owner of the highly-regarded Immersive Beijing program on the Peninsula, Jessica Weng an ex-product executive and dedicated San Carlos mom who led the grassroots effort to fulfill a community need, and through the support of an amazing community of parents. This non-profit aims to make Chinese language and cultural learning exciting, engaging, immersive, and practical - tailored for today’s learners and their family.
